Cancer Network Q&A with Amy Hay
As vice president for Business Development, Amy Hay helps MD?Anderson build partnerships around the world.
Amy Hay, vice president for Global Business Development at MD Anderson, understands that partnerships are ultimately about people. That's something she keeps top of mind as her team works to expand the institution's global reach through the MD Anderson Cancer Network?. Here, Amy weighs in on the Network, how it has grown over the years and how it's propelling MD Anderson's mission to end cancer.
What exactly is the MD Anderson Cancer Network??
The MD Anderson Cancer Network? advances the institution's mission of eliminating cancer by collaborating with like-minded community hospitals and health systems to elevate the overall quality of cancer care across the world. The network provides members with a wide range of services, from quality assurance and best practice guidelines to full clinical integration. Member hospitals also benefit from MD Anderson's knowledge as a top cancer center by gaining access to cutting-edge technologies, patient treatment protocols, education, research and the institution's unique multidisciplinary approach to patient care.
Are there different levels of integration and participation?
Members fall into three categories, based on their level of clinical integration - Certified Members partner with MD Anderson for decision support and clinical care is delivered by the local hospital/health system; Associate Members represent international hospitals whose multidisciplinary oncology programs are integrated with MD Anderson; Partner Members are essentially an extension of MD Anderson in the local hospital/health system's community, with full integration of cancer care and research.
How many hospitals are involved with the Network as of March 2017?
To date, we have 24 hospitals making up the MD Anderson Cancer Network?. I expect this number to grow over the fiscal year.

What are the Network's goals for the future?
We will continue to look for new opportunities to advance MD Anderson's mission to end cancer in Texas, the nation and the world. Our patients and their care are our number one priority and the MD Anderson Cancer Network? plays a pivotal role in providing them our standard of care, much closer to home.
