Thursday, November 10: 75th Anniversary Gala
Houston, Texas: 6-10 p.m.
The 75th Anniversary Gala honors MD Anderson's three living presidents, Charles LeMaistre, M.D., John Mendelsohn, M.D. and Ronald DePinho, M.D., and countless cancer fighters over the past 75 years. Veteran journalist Bob Schieffer and actor Gerald McRaney will serve as emcees.
Friday, November 11: Annual Board of Visitors Meeting
Houston, Texas: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
Saturday, November 12: Boot Walk to End Cancer?
Houston, Texas: 12 p.m. Registration/Check-in; 1-5 p.m. Walk
The inaugural Boot Walk to End Cancer?, a community initiative to take a stand against cancer, raise research dollars and show support for patients, survivors and families, encourages walkers to wear boots to symbolize "giving cancer the boot."
The week's festivities also include an employee celebration, Faculty Convocation and a service awards banquet.

Getting to know: Jim Mulva
Jim Mulva, a member of the MD?Anderson Cancer Center Board of Visitors since 2003, began his two-year term as chair on Sept. 1. Mulva was chief executive officer of ConocoPhillips, the third largest integrated oil and gas company in the United States, from 2002 until he retired in 2012. He began his energy career at Phillips Petroleum in 1973, progressing over the years to a number of management and executive positions in the U.S. and abroad. Mulva and his wife of 47 years, Miriam, are members of the Anderson Assembly, an organization honoring donors who have made lifetime commitments of $1 million or more to MD?Anderson. The Miriam and Jim Mulva Conference Center at MD?Anderson is named in recognition of their $5 million gift to support melanoma research. The Mulvas divide their time between Green Bay, Wisc. and Austin, Texas.
